Dr. Mark A. Fierro is a board-certified Ob/Gyn physician with over 15 years of experience. Dr. Fierro was born and raised in Oakland, CA. He attended Santa Clara University, double majoring in Biology and Psychology. Dr. Fierro also earned his EMT license taking night classes while in college, which allowed him to gain valuable medical experience to set the foundation for his medical career. He then attended St. Louis University where he earned his medical degree and successfully completed his 4-year residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health. In 2013, Dr. Fierro returned to the Bay Area and joined Dr. Contro in private practice. In addition to his excellent clinical care, Dr. Fierro has held numerous leadership positions within the medical community, serving as mentor for PA and NP students, as well as for aspiring medical students. He is currently the Chair of the Ob/Gyn Department at Good Samaritan Hospital, and he has been a speaker for pharmaceutical companies specializing in medications for the treatment of dyspareunia associated with vulvar vaginal atrophy in menopause and in the area of endometriosis. Dr. Fierro takes pride in getting to know his patients and helping them with all of their medical needs throughout all the phases of a woman’s life: from adolescence to family planning to post-menopause concerns. He believes in a comprehensive and personalized healthcare approach where together the patient and physician may optimize one’s healthcare. Dr. Fierro has a special interest in comprehensive fertility evaluation and treatment, including looking into the immune-related mechanism of natural killer cells and providing his patients with the option of in-office intrauterine insemination. In addition, Dr. Fierro also has a special interest in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of endometriosis, as well as in performing minimally-invasive surgical procedures, including total laparoscopic hysterectomy. When out of the office and the operating room, Dr. Fierro enjoys coaching his 4 kids in basketball and baseball, cheering on his daughter at her dance competitions and recitals, and relaxing at the beach.
